The rose breasted cockatoo for sale (Eolophus roseicapilla), better known as the galah, is a mid-sized Australian cockatoo with a rose-pink chest and face, soft grey wings and a pale pink crest. Every galah at My Cockatoo Bird is hand-raised, socialised and backed by a 100% health guarantee with safe delivery.
An easier cockatoo to live with
Galahs are affectionate and love to play, but they are more independent and even-tempered than clingy giants like the Moluccan cockatoo or the Umbrella cockatoo. That balance makes the rose-breasted one of the better cockatoos for a busy but committed owner: it still wants daily company and out-of-cage time, yet it copes better with normal family routines and is far less prone to the extreme separation anxiety of the big whites. It is a genuinely friendly bird, good with gentle, respectful handling, and among the more manageable cockatoos for someone stepping up from smaller parrots – though it is still a long-lived, intelligent animal that needs real commitment.
Rose-breasted cockatoos talk moderately, picking up words, whistles and funny noises, and they are famous for their playful acrobatics. Noise is moderate for a cockatoo – noticeable, but far less overwhelming than a Moluccan or sulphur-crested.
Care and lifespan
Galahs are prone to obesity, so keep treats and fatty seeds limited and base the diet on pellets and fresh vegetables, with plenty of climbing space and foraging toys to burn energy. One of the most easy-going of our tame pet cockatoos, the galah reaches about 14 inches (35 cm) and can live 40 to 70 years with good care.
